A special press conference featuring Darrell Gwynn and Bill Goldberg (host for the upcoming Bullrun TV show on speed) was one to remember. Darrell spoke about his charity and how the money from his foundation is used to give children from needy families the wheelchairs they desperately need for their spinal cord and other medical challenges. Darrell is one special person! Bill spoke of how a gentleman named Rick Bonner wanted to help Darrell's foundation and donated a 1970 Plymouth Satellite. Bill took the idea and ran with it - and tonight (Saturday) you will see lot #1289, a very special 1970 Superbird recreation! Check it out - a very special car for a very special Darrell Gwynn foundation! Bill Goldberg is to be congratulated for all his outstanding efforts on getting the car done and his passion to help Darrell!

Also, last night we were fortunate to be sitting in the right place at the right time. A wonderful couple from Medford, Oregon, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Miles sat right in front of us at the auction. I could tell they were interested in Lot #984 - a very special 1957 Chevy, in fact it was the first 1957 Chevy built! We saw him signal to Angelo, one of the Barrett-Jackson ringman or spotters. Angelo came over and here came the '57 on the auction block. I will never forget the next 5 minutes! It was electrifying! When the car hit $80,000 there were just two bidders - the couple in front of us and a bidder near the stage. The crowd all around us was clapping, and shouting words of encouragement. When the bid hit $100,000 everyone was on their feet and our bidder was determined. With his wife at his side he kept nodding yes and it was like a prize fight, both determined to come out on top! By now, SpeedTV cameras were right there, everyone around clapping, yelling and when the gavel came down at $150,000 and our couple won the bid the place erupted!! It was like your favorite college basketball team hit the winning shot at the buzzer - it was that loud! Two things then occurred that I thought was a touch of class. First, Frank Upton from Motor'nTV who was supposed to be sitting with us saw the action and took pictures of this couple during the action, winning the bid and signing for the car etc.. Frank is getting those pictures for the Miles as these will be priceless for the family! Kudos to Frank for a great "heads up"! Shortly thereafter Spanky the head auctioneer who was actually the one selling the car, came out in the bidders area and congratulated them. Both actions by Frank and Spanky was a touch of class! After things calmed down a bit, I turned to Lloyd and he told me he was getting worried because they travelled all the way from Oregon in hopes of buying this car and he was approaching his credit limit when the gavel came down! He and is wife were elated. Congratulations to the Miles! We were proud to be there and share the experience with them. Another Barrett-Jackson moment that can only be experienced by being here!

Rick Nux

Friday at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson Auction at Scottdate AZ

Wow, the one a kind GM concept vehicles are something to see! The car had was a real stand one. I sure how tall it stands but it look like it about the same height of the GT 40, and with the rear wing it look like it do about 200 mph setting still.

The engine is cover up by the rear deck glass. A very nice touch. This kind of like the F 40 did. The car has the look of something you might see at Le Man that is special pro-type built by one of the major factory. I guess you can say that Factory Five did there home work on this one. It really is hard to find words tell how it really looks. If you have 20K laying around I think this would be a great investment for anyone that loves supercars.

Well maybe Factory Five would like Motor'n TV to make GTM Supercar one of our projects for this next season. One of the brightest this year was the New Chevrolet Camaro the was featured by General Motors this year. General Motors had three of these gorgeous cars on display. If was almost impossible to get a photo of these car for the large number of fans surrounding the cars.

Chevrolet had one Yellow Camaro, (I think this was my favorite or Not) one Silver and Black Camaro and all Black Camaro that was very cool. I guess the reason I like the Yellow the most was because it was almost like look at a 1969 Camaro but them you had to look again to see if it was 2010.

These cars are going to look awesome going down the street. I can't wait to in my rear view mirror and watch it pass me like I wasn't even on the road. Well maybe not but it will be very cool to see the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro's on the roads. The car wars have began. Let me what you think about the New 2010 Camaro?

Motor' n TV

Frank

The Badlands are Alive

The Kansas Badlands are alive just east of Haven, Kansas.

Here is the Kansas Badland Truck getting ready to make a pass.
Here is one of the pro cars entering into the MUD PIT.
This Modified Coupe making a Drag pass.

This was very cool. John Buttermore, Pontiac, Mich., and Scott Tucker, of Overland Park, Kan., completed the podium for the Hawk Performance Touring 1 National Championship Race.

Starting second, Zabinski immediately put pressure on polesitter and defending Champion Andrew Aquilante for the lead. For the next 13 laps, Zabinski’s No. 77 Level 5 Motorports Ferrari 360 Modena shadowed Aquilante’s No. 36 Hoosier/Phoenix Perf/Hawk Chevrolet Corvette, occasionally pulling his Ferrari alongside the Corvette down the front stretch.

“I knew if I couldn’t get around Andrew at the beginning, I’d have to keep the pressure on him,” Zabinski said. “As it turned out, it was going to be really hard to get around Andrew. I had him out of the slow turn onto the front straight. I could get a big run there, but he knew that and he’d leave just a little less than a car-width of room on either side of him. He was better in Turn One and Two than I was though, so I would lose everything I had gained in those turns, and then gain it back here and there.”

Unable to make the pass stick on his numerous attempts into Turn One, it would be a chance incident in Turn 12 that handed the lead over to Zabinski. As the pair approached Turn 12 on lap 15, the No. 5 Corvette of Natha Waldbaum sat motionless on the racing line, facing traffic. Making split-second decisions, Aquilante pulled left, while Zabinski pulled right. Zabinski chose the correct path, moving into the lead while Aquilante grazed the front of Waldbaum’s car, causing a tire to go down on the defending T1 Champion’s Corvette.

“I saw the car in the middle of the track and I’m thinking ‘which way am I going to go?’” recalled Zabinski. “I had just enough time to see that Andrew was on the brakes really hard and was going to have to come to almost a dead stop to get by. I went the other way, thinking that I’d get junk on my tires, but I’d be around Andrew. Then he hit the car and I saw parts and fiberglass go everywhere. When I saw that I was pretty confident that we were going to be in good shape.”

The full-course yellow came out on lap 17 of the 18-lap race, not enough time to clean up the incident in Turn 12. The race would end under yellow, with Zabinski earning his first National Championship and getting Ferrari its first Runoffs victory. Zabinski also set a new Runoffs race lap record of 1:41.523.

“I was not disappointed with the incident and the full-course yellow,” Zabinski smiled. “In fact, I was crossing every appendage I had to ensure we didn’t go back green. I do think even if it had gone green, I still would have had something for John. We would have had a good little race going for a lap or two.”

After waiting patiently behind the battling Aquilante and Zabinski, Buttermore crossed the finish line second in the No. 52 Hoosier/Nearbrook Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette. It was the second-consecutive runner-up finish in T1 for Buttermore.

Zabinski’s teammate, Tucker, completed the podium in the No. 55 Level 5 Motorsports Ferrari 360 Modena.

Driving the No. 73 Phoenix/Hoosier Chevrolet Corvette, David Joseph Sanders, of Exton, Pa., finished fourth. He was followed by the No. 7 Hoosier/Carbotech/Phoenix Chevrolet Corvette of Chris Ingle, from Raeford, N.C., who battled back from first-lap contact and a spin that dropped him to last.

Oli Thordarson, of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., advanced five positions during the race in his No. 13 Alvaka Networks/OC Corvette Chevrolet Corvette and earned the Sunoco Hard Charger Award.

The Hawk Performance Touring 1 National Championship Race will air on SPEED, Wednesday, December 31, at 1 p.m. (EST).

The SCCA National Championship Runoffs® The Pinnacle of American Motorsports, will crown Sports Car Club of America's Club Racing National Champions for the 45th-consecutive year in 2008. The people were very helpful and took very good care of use for being that early in the morning.

Next we enter the track by thought the tunnel under the track where you enter into a city of RV of all kinds. Because we well early birds parking was open right in front of the garage area where we had to meet Judy Dominick of Team Chevy. We had a couple of hour to kill so we walk around the garage area that opens to the crews and press at 7:oo am and talk with some of the team members and Goodyear where we found out everything you would want to know about tire that NASCAR uses

At 9:oo am we contacted Judy and meet her at the Shell/Pennzoil hauler of Kevin Harvick Chevrolet Impala Car 29. You can believe these hauler but more of that later. Judy is great representative for TEAM CHEVROLET and NASCAR. She is very passionate about the entire sport and the people involved with it. She began by giving some back ground about the Shell/Pennzoil team then we had tour of the entire garage area from fuel area to the inspecting to car before the race. After the tour of garage we when out on the track to the Pit Box of Kevin Harvicks. These Pit boxes are unbelievable. They have everything need for the car and team there in them. Plus the on top of Pit Boxes is where the the Crew Chief Todd Berrier sit and control the whole race from. From there we walk down pit lane and saw all of the other teams pit area. We when back into the garage area and then over to the media center where they provide us with lunch. Media Center was very busy area with all the media from around the country base out of this area. After lunch we meet up with Judy again and she gave us a tour of Kevin Harvick Custom car hauler. These are a traveling garage with everything the car and team needs to complete at each track. Judy also expand that after each race the hauler go back to shop unload the cars and parts the last race and pick-up a new cars and parts for the next race. These also have complete offices so the team can communicate with anyone around the world. From the hauler we when back out to Kevin Harvick Pit Box were we meet Todd Berrier the Crew Chief for the Shell/Pennzoil Chevrolet car 29 and invited us up to where we had the "Best seat in the House".

These seats were right behind where Todd runs the whole race from. You are less than a few feet from the pit wall where all the action is during the pit stops. To watch these guys in perform these pit stop in the time it take, TV will never be able to give the real filling and speed that these professional are working at or how close that each team and there pit area are. Almost every stop that Kevin Harvick had Kurt Busch pitting in front of him with only inches between them when he exited his pit area. From these seat you are able to watch the entire race, which was pretty awesome.

This was a great with no Major crashes. Kevin started 36th but had a great finish with 6th place. All in all it was a NASCAR Fan Dream day. If you ever get the chance to be involved with the "Best Seat in the House" you want to take advantage of this.

Again I would like to thank everyone involved, first for Kansas Speedway and staff for putting on a great show, Chevrolet and there representative Judy Dominick for unbelievable tour of the track area, Shell/Pennzoil for let be apart of the race action in the pit area and Blair Hefty of Coyne PR originally contact about be

apart of the "Best Seats in the House"program.

Thank you to everyone involved from Frank Upton and Jay Wyckoff of Motor'n TV.

Motor'n TV

The Kansas Speedway Recap

Another great race at the Kansas Speedway. Start Position: Sixth Finish Position: Eighth Points Position: Sixth (Gained three positions)
DOVER, Del. – Clint Bowyer and the Jack Daniel's Racing team capitalized on a strong race car and turned in a solid eighth-place finish in Sunday's Camping World 400 at Dover International Speedway.
The top-10 showing propelled Bowyer from ninth to sixth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship point standings. The Emporia, Kan., native is just five points behind Richard Childress Racing teammate Kevin Harvick in fifth and 24 behind fellow RCR driver Jeff Burton in fourth. With eight races remaining in the Chase for Sprint Cup, Bowyer is just 106 points behind current leader Carl Edwards.
The 29-year-old driver blistered Dover's "Monster Mile" in qualifying on Friday afternoon, navigating the race track in 23.125 seconds (155.676 mph). His fast lap was good enough for a starting spot on the outside of the third row for Sunday's second and final stop of 2008 at the high-banked concrete oval.
The green flag waved shortly after 2 p.m. local time and Bowyer spent most of the opening 60 laps racing in the top 10. While he fought a loose-handling condition during the early laps, the two-time Sprint Cup Series winner also offered that his Jack Daniel's Chevy got much better deeper in the run.
Bowyer made his first pit stop during the day's third caution flag with crew chief Gil Martin calling for a fresh set of Goodyears, a chassis adjustment and air pressure adjustments to both right-side tires. Quick work by Mr. Jack's Crew snagged their driver one spot on pit road and when the 43-car field went back to green-flag racing on lap 69, the black and white No. 07 machine was eighth in the running order.
Bowyer ran eighth or ninth over the next 73 laps. When the fourth caution flag waved on lap 142, he informed his team the Jack Daniel's Chevy was good and no changes, other than fuel and tires, were needed during the day's second round of service.
Bowyer was ninth for the lap 148 restart, seventh on lap 156, sixth on lap 152 and fifth before hitting pit road for the third time during the race's eighth caution flag on lap 188.
After different pit strategies began to take shape throughout the previous handful of cautions, Bowyer wound up 16th in the running order after the lead pack made its pit stops with just over 200 laps remaining.
Over the next 79 green-flag laps, the running order eventually cycled back to a sense of normalcy and Bowyer was able to stay out long enough to lead a lap and earn five bonus points. After making his green-flag stop on lap 270, Bowyer was back to 12th before pitting shortly thereafter when the caution finally waved 21 laps later.
The third-year Sprint Cup pilot was 11th when the green flag waved again, 102 laps from the scheduled 400-lap distance, and raced his way up to seventh before the 10th and final caution flag flew on lap 351.
After one final trip to pit road a lap later, Bowyer was ninth when the yellow was lifted but he was able to pick up one spot in the closing laps and finish Round 2 of the Chase for the Sprint Cup eighth in the final rundown.
Greg Biffle earned his second consecutive win, beating teammates Matt Kenseth and Edwards to the checkered flag. Mark Martin was fourth and Jimmie Johnson rounded out the top five.
Harvick and Burton also turned in solid performances, finishing sixth and ninth, respectively.
Next weekend is a homecoming for Bowyer as NASCAR's senior circuit visits Kansas City for Round 3 in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
Live coverage of the Camping World RV 400 presented by Coleman from Kansas Speedway will take the green flag Sunday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race will be televised on ABC and broadcast worldwide on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio. Chevrolet and Shell Oil Requested Kansas Speedway provide us with credential for the race this weekend. Which I then receive an email from the Kansas Speedway's Manager of Public Relations Kelly Hale that indicated that Per a request from Chevrolet, Motor'n TV and your staff have been issued credentials. So we will be at the Kansas Speedway and will be reporting back on this event. Would like to thank Chevrolet, Shell Oil and Kelly Hale of the Kansas Speedway for the help they provide in securing the credentials for the Camping World RV 400 presented by Coleman. Stay tune.

You may remember Motor'n TV announcing that they would be at the Kansas Speedway on September 28, to be apart of Pennzoil's "Best Seat in the House"program, and to interview Kevin Harvick at the track about his chances in the NASCAR Chase, well this look like it is not going to happen. Kansas Speedway has denied Motor'n TV press passes for this event. It is funny that a larger corporation like Shell Oil (Pennzoil) would invite us to do an interview with their star driver Kevin Harvick but for no reason Kansas Speedway has denied or credential and Hot Pit pass for the up come event. I wonder what they were think? Isn't this a win win for everybody involved?
Pennzoil’s “Best Seat in the House”

Motor'n TV has been chosen to be apart of Pennzoil’s “Best Seat in the House” program for the up coming NASCAR Sprint Cup race event that is to be held at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. It has as much variety as some of the national show from a 500K Porsche, almost every year of Corvettes and over 300 Hot Rods, Muscle Car, Street Rods, and let not forget the ever growing Rat Rods.
In the Corvette section there was a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe that was a Bloomington Gold Survivor. This car had been in storage for over 30 years. Boy it look really great for being an all original car.

There lots of other great looking vehicles there like this Red Chevrolet Pickup. When the last time you saw a blown Pickup that looked this nice.

There was another nice Ford Pickup that had a garage logo on the side of it. It was slammed to the ground. It just had a great look over all.

There is a Rat Rod that is form the Wichita area that is so cool because the guy built the car from the firewall back out of wood. The seat were metal that look like they were hand formed. The wheels were a blast from the past with the old ET's on the front and 5 Spokes on the rear. While the Emporia, Kan., driver slipped from fifth to ninth in points, Bowyer is still just nine points behind Kyle Busch, who fell from first to eighth, 10 back from Tony Stewart in seventh, 11 behind Denny Hamlin in sixth and 33 in arrears of Richard Childress Racing teammate Jeff Burton in fifth.

For the second week in a row and seventh time this season, rain washed out qualifying and the 43-car field was set based on points. After the sanctioning body reset the top 12 in points following last weekends race in Richmond, Bowyer was awarded a starting spot on the inside of the third row to coincide with being the fifth-seed in NASCARs 10-race playoff system.

Optimism was high for Bowyer and Company all weekend with the Jack Daniels Chevy being shown atop the speed sheet in all three practice sessions.

The green flag waved just before 2:30 p.m. local time under ominous skies and Bowyer moved up from fifth to third in the opening five laps. He raced as high as second but fell back to fifth before NASCAR waved the first yellow flag of the afternoon on lap 35 to give teams a chance to assess tire wear after rain soaked the area that morning.

The two-time Sprint Cup Series winner informed his team the Jack Daniels Chevy was suffering from a loose-handling condition exiting the corners and, in turn, Martin called for air pressure adjustments to all four new Goodyear tires during the ensuing pit stop.

Back under green on lap 40, now in 10th after several teams opted for only two tires during their stops, Bowyer was up to eighth on lap 44, seventh on lap 45 and back to eighth on lap 80 where he raced until the second yellow waved three circuits later.

Following another trip to the service lane for tires, fuel and chassis adjustments, Bowyer was ninth for the lap 88 restart. He ran in and just outside the top 10 during the next 69 laps but continued to struggle with a loose-handling machine.

Green-flag pit stops were underway just past the halfway mark and once the entire field cycled through their respective trips to pit road, Bowyer was 12th in the running order. He was back in 10th with 120 laps to go but the continued loose condition hampered his forward progress.

The third yellow flag of the day waved on lap 214 and Bowyer made another hard left to the pits for his fourth stop of the day. Again, Martin called for a fresh set of Goodyears, including air pressure adjustments to both rear tires, and a chassis adjustment to try and offer his driver a leg up on the competition.

Still, the third-year Sprint Cup driver wasnt able to gain any ground on the leaders and he was 10th when NASCAR displayed the red flag for a five-car incident coming off turn four.

The field went back to green following a 10-minute hiatus and during the next 17 laps, the Jack Daniels Chevy swung from loose to tight.

The fifth caution waved 34 laps from the checkers but, with track position at a premium, Martin elected to keep Bowyer on the track to preserve the teams position.

Almost on cue, everyone behind Bowyer chose to pit and had fresh tires for the lap 271 restart, leaving the 29-year-old driver with no where to hide when the field went back to green.

Fresh rubber proved to be king and Bowyer plummeted from 10th to 19th over the next nine laps. Fortunately, another caution provided Mr. Jacks Crew a final trip to pit road and a fresh set of tires, affording their driver new life for the closing 17 laps.

With a new lease on life, Bowyer dug in and gouged his way back to 12th before the checkered flag waved.

Greg Biffle notched his first win of the season and jumped to third in points. Jimmie Johnson was second while Carl Edwards was third and assumed the top spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Burton finished fourth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. rounded out the top five. Only two drivers outside the Chase, Kurt Busch and Martin Truex Jr., finished in the top 10.

Bowyers fellow RCR teammate Kevin Harvick was 10th in the final rundown.

Next weekend, NASCARs senior circuit returns to the "Monster Mile" for Round 2 in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Flag-to-flag coverage of the Camping World RV 400 presented by AAA from Dover International Speedway will take the green flag Sunday, Sept. 21 beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race will be televised live on ABC and broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio. I think we had better car than that. Our pit strategy didn't work out as well as we hoped. We'll be better next week at Dover."

Return to Stories

Your 2008 Chase drivers, doin' Letterman's Top 10 -- er, 12

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://motorntv.blogspot.com/2008/09/chase-letterman-2008-chase-top-12.html' title='Your 2008 Chase drivers, doin' The Goodguys event has just about every kind of vehicle that your heart could imaging. But there is one thing you need to remember about these events, is first bring your best walking shoes because the number of vehicles that at a Goodguys event is unbelieveable. You will walk for miles and not see everything that is there and I am professional at trying to see every vehicle at the show. If you like Muscle, Classics, Hot Rods, Custom, Street Rods, and lets not forget the Rat Rods, they are all there. I got to go to the Kansas Speeedway, in Kansas City, Kansas early on Saturday, an just a little boy in a candy store I could not decide where to start. Eight hours later they were asking everyone to leave. This show last three days and this is where I have a problem because I’m not sure if you did spend the three days looking it would be long enough to see it all. So if you ever get a chance to go to a Goodguys Show in your area or even if you have to travel a ways, it is worth every minute.I have enclosed a few photos of the Goodguys event and some of cars at the show. Set back and enjoy.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240774691940776114" style="FLOAT: left; This move Clint back up into the Chase in 12th place with just 2 races left to make the Chase. "GO CLINT"!

Big news this week RCR Boss Richard Childress announce that Casey Mears would be taking over for Clint Bowyer in 07 Jack Daneil's cars and Clint Bowyer will move to the No. 33 car sponsored by General Mills that technically will be the new fourth car. This means in 09 Clint will have a very interesting start for "09". We will have to see how things turn out for Clint. What do think of Clint coming from Jack Daneil's racing to General Mills racing for Cherrios. Good Luck and we will be watching for thinks to come.
Motor'n TV

Pennzoil’s “Best Seat in the House”

Motor'n TV has been choosen to be apart of Pennzoil’s “Best Seat in the House” program for the up coming NASCAR Sprint Cup race event that is to be held at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. It’s the sound of 3,000-plus hot rods and customs cars headed to the Kansas City Metro area. The Goodguys 7th Midwestern Nationals car show will take over Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, KS, turning the spacious Speedway into a scene from American Graffiti. Northern California based Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, producers of America’s largest hot rod festivals, have once again chosen Kansas City as the host city for its seventh edition of the Midwestern Nationals event. Event features include a car show, an automotive swap meet, a vendor exhibit midway, track cruise, Street Challenge auto-cross (performance road testing course) and a host of other automotive themed activities. The Goodguys 7th Midwestern Nationals is part of a 24 event annual hot rod and custom car series promoted and produced by the Goodguys. Goodguys events are held from New York to San Diego, from Seattle Florida and many points in between. The events are large, colorful and have often been referred to as a “State Fair of Automotive Excitement!” Lil’ deuce coupes, hot rod roadsters, lead-sled 50’s Mercury customs, ‘55-’57 Chevy’s, Camaro’s, Hemi Barracuda’s & BOSS 409 Mustangs and other timeless beauties will fill the garage buildings and the entire outdoor acreage of the Speedway.

“It is a no-brainer to hold a Goodguys National event at the Kansas Speedway” said Goodguys Vice President of Event Operations Harry Daviess. “Our events fit these Super Speedways perfectly. There’s lots of room to park and cruise, the pit garages serve as perfect spaces for the vendor midway and the participants feel at home at these venues. Throw in the track cruise, the Street Challenge autocross and a sea of brilliant ad colorful hot rods and you’ve got a winning formula which is fun for all participants and spectators.”

On Saturday evening, August 30– all participants with a car entered in the show will have the opportunity to cruise their car around the hi-banked speedway. In addition to the track cruise another popular driving event is the Street Challenge Autocross – a strategically mapped out road course designed to test the performance of participant vehicles.

The Goodguys 7th Midwestern Nationals will have everything the auto buff and gear head could ever want. A used parts automotive swap meet will join a special “cars for sale corral” where automotive treasure hunters can seek out hard to find parts and buy and/or sell the car of their dreams. For those who prefer their hot cars on a smaller scale, as in miniature version, model car giant Revell-Monogram will sponsor a model car show, complete with a “Make and Take” program where youngsters can build a model at the event and take it home with them.

Awards are a large part of any automotive event, and the Midwestern Nationals will offer plenty. Special awards like the “Low Lid” will go to the hot rod or custom car with the lowest roof. The “Homebuilt Heaven” pick, sponsored by Timberland/Pro apparel goes to a rod or custom that was completely built and fabricated by the owner in his or her own garage. The event will also showcase the PPG Dream Car award and also the Goodguys Fab 5. Close to eighty other specialty awards will be presented. A finalist will also be chosen for the following “Of the Year” awards: Muscle car of the Year Finalist, Custom Rod of the Year Finalist, Truck of the Year Late Finalist, and the Muscle Machine of the Year Finalist.

The event will also feature specialty parking areas with special themes. Goodguys Pro’s Picks, Ya Gotta Drive ‘Em to Get There, Homebuilt Heaven, Trick Truck Corral, Deuce Doin’s for 32’s, “Mighty Muscle” highlights Muscle Cars 1960 through 1972 and the “Young Guys” is for hot rodders 25 years old and younger. The special parking areas take place Saturday, August 30 from 8am to 2pm.

As an industry, hot rodding and classic American cars are healthier than ever. Magazine racks across the country are filled with hot rodding lifestyle magazine titles and prime time programming blocks on cable television are filled with such hit shows as Rides, Overhaulin’ and Spike TV’s “Power Block” – a weekly two hour slate of hi performance automotive and truck programming.

* In 2006, retail sales for street rod and custom car specialty equipment products reached $954 million and manufacturer sales were $325 million nationwide. In this case, street rod is defined as 1948 and older model-year vehicles, and customs include 1949 through early 1970s vehicles.

* Retail sales experienced a 56.4% increase between 1997 and 2006, with the largest year-to-year change occurring between 2004 and 2005 with 14.25%.

Goodguys Chairman and founder Gary Meadors, a 69 year old lifelong car enthusiast and ardent hot rodder isn’t surprised by rodding’s new found attention. “Colorful, customized American cars have always made people happy,” he said. “You drive down the road in a big foreign luxury sedan and people think you’re a snob. When you hit the road in a candy red ’57 Chevy, or a flamed ’32 Ford coupe with chrome glistening in the sun, people give you a hearty thumbs up and wave to you even though you’re a complete stranger. These cars extract human emotions. We’ve been doing hot rod events for over twenty years and mainstream America has now found out how cool these cars are and how much fun you can have building, owning and driving them.”

In Kansas City, the goal for Goodguys is simple; make a lot of people smile. “The city of Kansas City and the Kansas Speedway will provide a great backdrop for the event,” said Goodguys President, Marc Meadors. “The hotels in Kansas City and surrounding areas are filling up and local clubs are behind this event. We hope to establish a long term run here.” The event’s participants and spectators will pump a great amount of dollars into the local economy during the Midwestern Nationals event weekend.

Event hours are Friday and Saturday 8am to 5pm and Sunday 8am to 3pm. Here is some quick history on Motor'n TV. I would like to introduce you to Motor’n TV (formally known as C-CARS TV) and to announce we have started production on our fourth season. C-CARS TV began airing in April of 2003 and have produced over 60 shows. Our show is aired through out Kansas, parts of Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri and Colorado. The first two years we were broadcast on Cox Cable. This year we have had the 11:30 AM time slot on KANSAS FOX Saturday mornings, which has given us the highest Nielson ratings of any of the sports channels in this time slot. Over the last three years we have developed some very good working relationships with organizations like NHRA, NSRA, SEMA and the Mid-America Shelby club. We will travel to over 50 different outdoor Motor’n events this year. We have developed quite a following with car enthusiasts who love to see the different vehicles that we bring to the show in our new truck and trailer.
We also love to work in promoting your products on some of our project vehicles. We are currently working on a 1959 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, 1967 Chevrolet Camaro and 1967 Ford Shelby 500E Mustang. All will be very high end vehicles when finished. Any one of these vehicles could be displayed at SEMA or any other major event. If you would like more details on these vehicles please contact Frank at the phone numbers below.
The standard show format of the show we produce is divided into three parts:
Cool Parts is designed to showcase products and new innovations in the automotive and motorcycle industry. Studio production and on location interviews have given sponsors the flexibility to custom showcase their products.
Project Central is a hands-on segment targeted to the do it yourselfer showing how to do a project through fabrication or addition of aftermarket products. Viewers find this segment informative, factual and a source for trustworthy information.
At the Show has a large viewer following. We travel to all types of shows and events around the country and everyone wants their “pride and joy” on TV. This segment of the show is the biggest contributor to the growth of Motor’n TV. Frank Upton and Jay Wyckoff are the hosts of the show. The chemistry that we have adds an unusual twist to the show. For over 25 years Frank has been involved in the classic car business promoting collector car auctions, doing appraisals, specialty shows and car events. Jay is an expert builder and fabricator of cars and bikes. Frank has a hard time using even a screwdriver but his cars always look the best. Jay finds time better spent changing something on one of his projects or building something cool. We have several great project to that we will be reporting to about in the up coming up, like Pit Viper, Clint Boyer Custom Hot Rod and special project to be announce on a 1969 Chevy Custom Camaro. I look forward to posting up coming events that we will be attending and reporting on. Pleases let me know if you have any questions or events of interested that you would like to discuss in Motor'n TV blog.

Motor'n TV

Frank Upton
